Role Overview:As a FLIGHT DECK Lean Engineer, you will play a critical role in driving the understanding and application of FLIGHT DECK Lean principles and tools within a service shop environment. This position is on-site and involves working with cross-functional teams at the Genba (actual shop floor) and Obeya (great room) to implement breakthrough initiatives, improve processes, and sustain standard work improvements. Your work will directly contribute to GE Aerospace’s mission of delivering world-class solutions to our customers and advancing the future of flight.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive the understanding and application of FLIGHT DECK Lean principles and tools.
  • Connect the voice of the customer (VOC) to the targets to improve (TTI) and leader standard work (LSW).
  • Work in cross-functional teams at the Genba and Obeya to implement Lean initiatives.
  • Engage in transformation rhythms, shop strategy action planning reviews, and daily management operating rhythms (Levels 5, 6, & 7).
  • Support the continuous improvement of key process indicators (KPI) and sustain standard work process improvements.
  • Implement 5S and Visual Management standards and controls.
  • Lead kaizen problem-solving events and oversee future state value stream maps (VSM) and transformation plans.
  • Facilitate and own an active pipeline of waste reduction projects, Shingijutsu kaizen events, and action plans for the McAllen site.
  • Coach, mentor, and train others in FLIGHT DECK Lean and Six Sigma DMAIC concepts and tools.
  • Present product/program strategies, Lean roadmaps, risks, and recommendations to Senior Leaders.
  • Define processes, IT tools, trainings, and systems to be used by the manufacturing community.

The Ideal Candidate:The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver with strong interpersonal and leadership skills. They thrive in a fast-paced environment, are passionate about Lean principles, and are committed to driving continuous improvement while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Aerospace, or Manufacturing Engineering from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in Manufacturing).
  • Minimum of 3 years of engineering experience in Production Process and Equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Ability to influence others and lead small teams.
  • Experience leading initiatives of moderate scope and impact.
  • Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously.
  • Effective problem-solving skills and Lean Six Sigma training/experience.
  • Proven analytical and organizational ability.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
