RemoteRaytheon is currently seeking a Linux System Administrator to support the Sea Based X-Band Radar, (XBR) program. The team is composed of an energetic multi-disciplinary group of 25 field engineers working collaboratively with internal and external customers and programs. The mission provides cutting-edge missile defense radar system capabilities to our nation’s warfighters around the world, and around the clock. This team is deployed at undisclosed locations on an ocean-going vessel providing direct support to ensure the warfighter has the most reliable data to meet the challenges our nation faces.
Responsibilities to Anticipate:
- Work aboard the vessel for approximately (3) 70-day rotations per year, each followed by extended home leaves.
- Ability to live and work with others in close quarters for long durations at sea.
- Exposure to heights will be required when being transported on and off the vessel and the ideal candidate will not be hindered by motion sickness.
- Evaluates, recommends, installs, and supports the radar’s local area network (LAN) hardware and software.
- Maintains technical expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, switches, firewalls, computer systems, etc.
- Archives data, transfers archived data off the marine vessel and perform configuration management of system software.
- Manages user accounts and system security settings.
- Supports mission operations staff and works closely with data processor and signal processor system engineers.
- This position will perform other duties as assigned by the operations lead in support of the mission.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- Active and transferrable SECRET Security Clearance.
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
- Successfully pass an annual mariner physical examination.
- Experience with computer systems administration, maintenance, and fault isolation/troubleshooting in a networked or standalone environment to include:
- Computing hardware and operating systems installation, (including cabling and peripherals).
- NetApp NAS filters and clustered Data ONTAP (cDOT).
- Microsoft Windows Server including DNS, Active Directory, and Group Policy.
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Familiarity with UNIX to include the ability to write and understand Perl and shell scripts and good troubleshooting skills.
- Red Hat RHCSA certifications.
- ACAS and HBSS administration and maintenance experience.
- System software and hardware to include operating systems experience, (Windows, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, NetApp Clustered Data ONTAP and Cisco IOS) and diagnostics.
- VMware vSphere administration and maintenance experience.
- RSA SecurID administration experience.
- Experience with Forcepoint Firewalls.
- Installation and configuration of NetBackup.
- Familiarity with DoD DIACAP and/or RMF cyber-security risk management.

The salary range for this role is 82,000 USD - 164,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
