Role Introduction
Reports To: Assistant Manager Flight Dispatch (Operations), Assistant Manager Flight Dispatch (Data Services and Support)
This role is part of a professional team in our Flight Operations Department, which consists of flight crew and ground staff teams, both working to ensure the highest standards of operational efficiency and service. Safety is intrinsic to everything we do.
As a Flight Dispatch Coordinator, you will be responsible for supervising flight planning and dispatch duties in accordance with company procedures and working closely with the Integrated Operations Centre (IOC) to provide flight watch coverage on the day of operation.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure effective and efficient delivery of flight planning and crew briefing duties; Communicate with flight crew when aircraft deviate from planned routes to confirm operational status; Handle flight crew queries and feedback positively and promptly, escalate feedback to management and implement corrective actions as needed
- Provide general flight watch coverage to minimize disruptions from Air Traffic Control (ATC) restrictions, weather, and NOTAMs by evaluating and implementing alternative flight planning and dispatch solutions
- Monitor EDTO and TRANSPAC operations to ensure legal compliance and optimize payload through cost-effective routing; Maintain up-to-date navigational databases with current aeronautical and weather information for accurate flight planning
- Coordinate with IOC, Engineering, Airports, Cargo, and Flight Operations to resolve day-of-operation issues and support IOC decision-making
- Liaise with ATC and Meteorological centres for flight plan filing and weather updates for both routine and ad hoc situations; Apply for overflight clearance with ATC authorities for ad hoc rerouting and extra sectors on day of operations plus one
- Supervise, mentor, and motivate Flight Dispatchers and Briefing Officers to foster a cohesive and positive work environment; Assess proficiency and competency of Senior Flight Dispatchers, Flight Dispatchers, Officers, and Assistants in line with IOSA requirements and update Flight Dispatch Manager (FDM) accordingly; Monitor dispatch workload during disruptions and reallocate resources proactively
- Record significant incidents during shift to ensure smooth handover and support management review; Support Flight Dispatch management in daily administration, meetings, and ad hoc projects; Supervise Notam Deck during shift and cover duties in the absence of the Notam Data Controller
- Stay updated on flight planning and dispatch methodologies, regulatory changes, and technology developments; Identify and implement continuous improvements in work processes, policies, and procedures; Promote a professional and positive work attitude and lead by example; Intervene fairly and promptly to prevent staff conflicts from escalating
- Ensure receipt of 4D/15 reports from all airborne aircraft and follow up when data is missing
- Contact relevant ATC units when aircraft location attempts fail
Requirements
Knowledge
- Full Flight Dispatch training included EDTO, POLAR, NAT and PACIFIC Flight Operations.
- Good knowledge of Flight Planning system operation, database administration and policy setting.
- Good knowledge of airline and flight operations.
- ICAO / FAA Aircraft Dispatcher License is desired but not essential.
Skills
- Computer literacy Microsoft Office programme (WORDS, EXCEL, VISIO, ACCESS, POWERPOINT).
- Strong leadership and analytical skills.
- Good time management skill, organized methodical and systematic approach to problem solving.
- Excellent command of English (Written and spoken).
Experience
- 8 years Flight Dispatch Experience or minimum 2 years working experience in Senior Flight Dispatchers position.
- Good experience in project, change management, establishment of operational policies and procedure.
