We are hiring an Advanced Engineering Technician in McLeansville, NC to support prototype fabrication, electro-mechanical system development, and advanced engineering laboratory operations for mission-critical aerospace and defense technologies. This role requires expertise in CNC machining, prototype hardware fabrication, SolidWorks, CAM software, GD&T, electro-mechanical troubleshooting, precision measurement tools, and engineering test support within secure engineering environments.
Responsibilities:
Provide hands-on technical support to engineering teams by fabricating, testing, troubleshooting, and improving prototype electro-mechanical systems and specialized equipment.
- Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and diagrams to support prototype development
- Construct, modify, debug, troubleshoot, calibrate, test, and adjust tools, equipment, and electro-mechanical systems
- Support design, check-out, fabrication, and assembly of prototype hardware and experimental circuitry
- Conduct statistically based experiments to define and optimize process parameters
- Analyze and document experimental results; identify cause-and-effect relationships
- Implement and document process improvements and complex technical solutions
- Design and fabricate basic tooling and fixtures for unique or one-off engineering tasks
- Support laser/light transmission devices and specialized test equipment as needed
Qualifications:
- U.S. Citizenship is required by Federal Law
- Associate’s degree in a related technical discipline (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 3+ years of hands-on engineering technician or prototype fabrication experience
- Technical Expertise:
- Advanced machining using manual and CNC equipment (HAAS mills, 4-axis & 5-axis mills, lathes)
- Proficient in SolidWorks and/or CAM software
- Ability to fabricate complex hardware and prototype assemblies
- Working knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)
- Experience using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, etc.)
- Knowledge of fabrication tools and general technical theory
- Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to lift 50 lbs minimum
- Work Requirements:
- Ability to work overtime as needed
- On-site position supporting secure engineering operations
