Job Summary
Responsible for the leading the Electrical Wiring Interconnect System (EWIS) team with design, testing, certification, and ongoing engineering support of all aspects of aircraft electrical wiring for FAA certified single engine aircraft across multiple development sites.
Duties and Responsibilities/Essential Functions
- Reporting to the Executive Director of Avionics Electrical Engineering, the Manager of EWIS is responsible for the leading the engineering team tasked with design, testing, certification, and ongoing engineering support of all aspects of aircraft electrical wiring. Technical areas include system wiring diagram definition, interconnects, wire harness shielding, harness routing, assembly and installation. You will influence wire harness design direction and methodologies, ensuring consistent and appropriate designs and engineering processes are utilized across all Cirrus projects, driving safe, reliable, and cost-effective designs. You will support creation of certification and reports to meet 14 CFR Part 23 requirements in accordance with established Cirrus processes.
- The Manager of EWIS is responsible for progression and coaching of less experienced engineers, resource allocation, staffing, and performance reviews. This individual supports the Executive Director of Avionics and Electrical Engineering with budget planning and control, resource/project planning, and maintaining awareness of key deliverables and schedule milestones. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated history of fostering individual engagement and initiative, driving improvements to engineering process, and implementing design methodologies resulting in superior technical design and enhanced team productivity.
- The EWIS team is approximately 30 engineers and designers located at multiple domestic engineering innovation centers.
Qualifications

- Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) required.
- 10 years total relevant experience
- 4+ years leadership experience
- Leading teams of 10 or more engineers working on multiple complex projects
- Aircraft electrical wire harness design and certification to 14 CFR Part 23
- Use of design tools such as CREO Cabling, Mentor Graphics Capital Logic/Harness XC, MATLAB, EAGLE, VBA, or similar programs
- Must be able to demonstrate the ability to read, write and speak the English language
- Ability to work both independently and within a cross-functional team
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio, Project)
