This is a Staff Engineer role focused on supporting commercial aviation repair development within the rotating parts domain. Responsibilities include activities aimed at enhancing service technologies, integrating customer data, and capturing engine/product reliability, availability, maintenance, safety, and other performance parameters. The role encompasses hourly, nonexempt, exempt employees, and managerial positions dedicated to these activities. It influences approaches, projects, and programs within the functional area or affected business organization, as well as methods of operation. The role impacts the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of the team and provides significant input into setting priorities. It is guided by professional practices and policies shaped by the role, offering moderate autonomy and requiring high levels of operational judgment.

Site Overview:

Established in 2000, the John F. Welch Technology Center (JFWTC) in Bengaluru is GE Aerospace’s multidisciplinary research and engineering center. Pushing the boundaries of innovation every day, engineers and scientists at JFWTC have contributed to hundreds of aviation patents, pioneering breakthroughs in engine technologies, advanced materials, and additive manufacturing.

Role Overview:

  • Development of rotating parts repair, process qualification, industrialization. Related program deliverables to repair facilities for new and updated processes.
  • Developing specialized knowledge in their discipline. Serves as best practice/quality resource. Has awareness of latest technical developments in own area. Contributes towards strategy and policy development, and ensure delivery within area of responsibility.
  • Has in-depth knowledge of best practices and how own area integrates with others; has working knowledge of competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market
  • Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks or problems in areas of operational/product management, manufacturing, technology or engineering. Takes new perspective on existing solutions. Uses technical experience and expertise for data analysis to support recommendations. Uses multiple internal and limited external sources outside of own function to arrive at decisions.
  • Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. May lead small projects with moderate risks and resource requirements. Explains difficult or sensitive information; works to build consensus. Developing persuasion skills required to influence others on topics within field.

Required Qualifications:

  • B. Tech. / M. Tech. / Ph. D. in Mechanical / Aerospace Engineering or equivalent degree
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in mechanical design and/or services domain in gas turbine components.
  • Demonstrated ability to own & deliver on program meeting customer requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with across multi-disciplinary teams to solve complex problems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs. Established project management skills.
