Job Description:
The Dangerous Goods Specialist serves as the key Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all matters pertaining to Dangerous Goods (DG). This role covers a wide spectrum of responsibilities including compliance, training, record-keeping, permitting - and the receiving, storage, and shipping of Dangerous Goods. The specialist will maintain a solid working relationship with various teams, across multiple US locations and organizations. This role will also be responsible for supporting future initiatives and maintaining regulatory compliance. The candidate should be adept at conducting risk assessments, developing and executing a comprehensive training program, and working cross-functionally to ensure compliance with DG laws, regulations, and policies. The Dangerous Goods Specialist will also be responsible for managing and maintaining DOT Special Permits as well as regulatory compliance functions. The specialist will also need to maintain familiarity with trade compliance regarding cross-border trade with Canada and Mexico.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Serve as the Dangerous Goods Site Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Dassault Falcon Jets Teterboro location.
• Attend and maintain DG certifications for all Dassault Falcon Jet Warehouse Operations and Quality Assurance personnel.
• Develop and update a comprehensive list of parts and materials identified as DG in transportation; communicate this list to all relevant personnel
• Maintain site shipping papers in compliance with local regulations and Dassault Falcon Jet Corporations retention policy.
• Train others at the site on regulations, policies, and procedures related to the inbound receipt, and storage, of Dangerous Goods.
• Develop local work instructions for the handling and shipment of DG materials from the facility.
• Lead the risk assessment process for Dassault Falcon Jets Dangerous Goods program, working with outside vendors (The Transportation Development Group and Labelmaster) to ensure required reviews are performed.
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive training program, documentation, and records relating to Dangerous Goods.
• Collaborate with Dassault Falcon Jets Trade Compliance, and Risk Management Staff, and t for the continuous improvement of the CTPAT/FAST/ISPM-15 Programs.
• Manage and maintain DOT Special Permits required for the shipment of Dangerous Goods by authorized personnel for Dassault Falcon Jet Corporation.
• Other duties assigned by management within the shipping department to meet department objectives.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area compliant with company and OSHA standards.
Education:
• Bachelors Degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Supply Chain and Logistics, or equivalent.
Minimum Qualifications:
• CDGP Certification required.
• DOT-49CFR and IATA Train the Trainer Certification required.
• Minimum 3 years of experience with Dangerous Goods Management, Hazardous Materials Handling, and Transportation Compliance required.
• Strong knowledge of Dangerous Goods laws, regulations, and policies, with the ability to apply this knowledge to anticipate and effectively communicate with site and regulatory stakeholders.
• Familiar with Warehouse Management Software such as SAP.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills; able to communicate with high-level government officials and Senior Leaders of Dassault Falcon Jet Corporation and our joint venture partners.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to train others and develop comprehensive training programs.
• Experience with cross-border trade compliance is preferred.
Compensation and Benefits
The compensation for this position typically falls between $85,675.00 and Salary $114,429.50 per hour/per year. This position is not eligible for overtime. Note, the final compensation offered to a successful candidate will depend on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of relevant experience, Falcon-specific experience, relevant education/certifications, geographic location, and shift.
