A DAY IN A LIFE
As a start up, you can expect your days to be pretty varied. Multitasking is normal, and sometimes, your skills or natural talents will be leveraged to support other business priorities. That said, the bulk of your working hours should involve you having to:
Sales & Business Development
Identify and pursue new air cargo business opportunities
Generate leads, build a sales pipeline, and close deals to meet targets.
Promote air logistics solutions to customers (e.g freight forwarders, consolidators, and direct shippers)
Develop and maintain strong relationships with key accounts and partners.
Customer Management
Understand customer logistics needs and provide tailored cargo solutions.
Coordinate bookings, capacity allocation, and service support.
Handle customer inquiries, pricing requests, and issue resolution.
Commercial Planning
Support in setting sales targets & pricing strategies
Prepare quotations, negotiate rates, and manage spot rate requests with carriers & relevant stakeholders.
Collaborate with relevant stakeholders such as operation teams and capacity teams to secure uplift space and improve load factors
Performance & Reporting
Track and report on sales performance, volumes, and revenue.
Analyze spanet trends and competitor activity to improve offerings.
Provide regular updates to management and assist in forecasting.
Cross-Functional Coordination
Liaise with multiple key stakeholders, airline partners, ground handlers, etc.
Ensure timely cargo movement and adherence to service-level agreements (SLAs).
Assist in resolving shipment issues such as delays, offloads, and documentation errors.
Skills & Requirements
These are minimum-requirement skills and a ‘must-have’ for the role
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, or related field.
At least 3-5 years in Business Development/Sakes in relevant industry (i.e air cargo logistics/air freight/freight forwarding sales)
Proven track record of achieving revenue growth and closing deals.
Knowledge of air cargo processes, documentation (AWB), and airline systems.
Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
Familiarity with CRM tools, Google workspace, Microsoft Excel and reporting.
Extensive network in the cargo, logistics, and air freight industries in Malaysia or the APAC region.
Strong leadership, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
