YOUR ROLE AS A:

Position/title: Radiation Protection Supervisor
Entity: Air Asia Bhd

Summary of the role:

Radiation Protection Supervisor (RPS), reporting directly to the Radiation Protection Officer (RPO). The RPS functions to assist the RPO, or act on behalf of the RPO during his absence, in ensuring compliance with the Atomic Energy Licensing Act 1984 (Act 304) and organizational safety standards.
 

WHAT YOU’LL CHAMPION:

• Update and implement the Radiation Protection Program in accordance with regulatory requirements.
• Ensure safe working procedures are followed and all radiation workers are familiar with them.
• Implement emergency operating procedures and assist RPO in investigations of incidents or accidents.
• Identify, analyze, and monitor potential radiation hazards in the workplace and surrounding areas.
• Ensure calibration, validity, and proper maintenance of radiation equipment in compliance with AELB requirements.
• Conduct maintenance audits and prepare maintenance reports for all stations.
• Perform weekly area monitoring and report on non-compliances or hazards.
• Conduct monthly radiation toolbox talks and awareness sessions for workers.
• Collect, distribute, and record radiation dosimeters (e.g., OSL) and monitor dose rates of workers.
• Conduct radiation safety awareness and refresher training, including registration of new radiation workers.
• Supervise high-risk operations, equipment maintenance, transportation of radioactive sources, and emergency control/rescue operations.
• Maintain and update all radiation-related records (medical, personnel dose, storage, calibration, maintenance, disposal, transportation, incident, ownership, etc.) as required by ATOM MALAYSIA..
• Liaise with ATOM MALAYSIA, Nuclear Malaysia, CAAM, and other relevant authorities for regulatory compliance and reporting.

WHO YOU ARE:

• A certified Radiation Protection Officer recognized by ATOM MALAYSIA.
• Strong knowledge of radiation safety regulations, standards, and procedures.
• Experienced in handling and supervising radiation equipment and radioactive sources.
• Skilled in conducting risk assessments, audits, and workplace hazard analysis.
• Competent in preparing and maintaining comprehensive radiation safety documentation.
• Effective communicator with the ability to deliver training and awareness programs.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and reporting skills.
• Able to respond effectively to radiation-related emergencies and coordinate with authorities.
• Collaborative team player with the ability to support the RPO and guide radiation workers.
• Familiar with liaison processes with regulatory bodies (ATOM MALAYSIA, Nuclear Malaysia, CAAM, etc.).
