In a nutshell
At Virgin Atlantic, we are committed to driving forward and delivering our People teams strategic goals. We are looking for a visionary leader to join our Partnering & Performance team as the Senior Manager – People Strategy. This role is key to supporting the Vice President (VP) Partnering & Performance VP and Chief People Officer in defining and executing People goals through structured planning processes and ensuring alignment across Virgin Atlantic.
As the Senior Manager – People Strategy, you will play a crucial role in long term people strategic goals, translating plans into measurable actions. You will work closely with People Leadership Team (PLT), holding accountability of delivery. Linking across the People team and wider Senior Leadership Group to define and execute People goals, staying connected to external partners, trends, and insights to challenge the status quo.
Day to day
Lead and support People teams in the planning and delivery of VX30 and Chief People Officer’s strategic goals.
Provide critical, strategic thinking, analysis, and ideas that can be deployed company-wide to deliver the desired business outcomes.
Develop and deliver structured planning processes, ensuring alignment across Virgin Atlantic.
Conduct external research and trends analysis to identify people opportunities and initiatives.
Prepare effective documentation (e.g., presentations, Board papers, analyses) to support strategic decision-making and delivery.
Oversee the delivery of strategic projects, driving cross-functional alignment and providing on-the-ground support for issue resolution.
Work closely with the People Performance Team to identify specific KPIs that allow progress to be tracked against People Plan on a Page, projects, and key initiatives through weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting.
Lead the articulation of Virgin Atlantic’s Employer Value Proposition, working with Internal Communications and Recruitment to ensure it is well understood across the company and to prospective candidates.
Work closely with the People Performance Team, Leadership Team members, Senior Leaders, Corporate Development, Finance, and PMO to ensure alignment and effective execution of strategic initiatives.
Lead the People team Awards submissions, ensuring awards are reflective of the efforts of the People team.
About you
Experience in similar senior strategy role with large enterprise programme transformation delivery. Evidence of strong analytical, strategic and critical thinking skills, with successful demonstration of large-scale business benefits.
Ideally from HR background with experience in aviation working in complex, matrixed environments and managing competing priorities.
Evidence of excellent communication, influencing, and interpersonal skills. Working confidently and credibly with senior managers/leaders, forming strong personal relationships.
Experience of strong coaching and advisory capability across all levels of leadership to simplify complex problems and solutions into succinct presentations and narratives.
Demonstrable strategic planning capability with demonstrable experience setting, tracking, and delivering against metrics and KPIs across short- and long-term objectives.
Evidence of leveraging data and insights to shape strategy and measure impact utilising PowerBI, Microsoft Excel, and PowerPoint.
