Key Responsibilities:
As a Senior Staff Representative - Quality Assurance, Internal Auditor, you will play a key role in supporting United Airlines compliance with regulatory requirements and internal standards through audits, investigations, and continuous improvement efforts. This role is critical to the integrity of our Continuing Analysis and Surveillance System (CASS) and the safety and reliability of our operations. You will conduct comprehensive audits, assess operational compliance, and collaborate across departments to drive high standards of quality and performance.
- Lead and execute audits and investigations in alignment with 14 CFR Part 121.373 and United’s CASS program.
- Conduct internal and external compliance audits, approvals, and surveillance of Technical Operations and vendor practices.
- Perform risk assessments, write detailed audit reports, and monitor corrective actions to ensure regulatory and quality standards are met.
- Support continuous improvement by evaluating regulatory compliance across maintenance, engineering, fueling, aircraft records, procurement, and manufacturing.
- Investigate quality and process issues using interviews, data analysis, and evidence collection to identify root causes and validate corrective/preventive actions.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to finalize audit findings, ensure follow-up actions, and support audit closure and reporting.
- Provide guidance to the CASS Review Board and maintain effective liaison with the FAA and other regulatory authorities.
- Represent United in industry and regulatory meetings, serving as the company’s subject matter expert.
- Communicate audit insights and recommendations to senior leadership through reports and presentations.
- Apply Safety Management System (SMS) principles in all surveillance and auditing activities.
- Travel 20-30 to domestic and international sites for on-site quality oversight
Note: This is a remote position with a 50 travel requirement. While the role is fully remote, we prefer candidates based near one of our hub locations: San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, Denver, Newark, or Washington D.C. (IAD)
QualificationsWhat’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications):
- Bachelor’s degree in aviation, engineering, technology, or equivalent work/ military experience.
- At least 2 years of experience in aviation, with exposure to maintenance inspection, engineering, or quality assurance.
- Knowledge of FAA regulations (CFRs) and company manuals/policies.
- Familiarity with technical documentation (e.g., AMMs, IPCs, WDMs, engineering drawings).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; able to quickly adapt to company systems and platforms.
- Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
- Successful completion of interview and background requirements.
- Reliable and punctual attendance is essential.
What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications):
- FAA Airframe or Powerplant Certificate; ASQ or Six Sigma Green Belt certification.
- 3+ years of aviation experience with a focus on inspection, engineering, or quality assurance.
- Experience conducting quality audits and risk assessments; familiarity with procedure/policy development.
- Experience conducting detailed investigations, performing root cause analysis, and developing practical solutions.
- Sologic RCA Analysis or Master Facilitator trained.
- Proficiency in data tools such as Palantir, Spotfire, or SQL.
- Experience in process mapping and improvement methodologies.
The base pay range for this role is $87,780.00 to $119,680.00.
The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.
