MACHINIST III: Sets up and operates a variety of machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, planers, and precision grinders to make metal parts, mechanisms, tools, or machines to exact tolerances and dimensions. Interprets blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals and engineering specifications; determines sequence of operations, number of cuts required, and method of setup.
What you will be responsible for:
· Confers with engineers, production personnel, and other machinists to resolve machining or assembly problems
· Inspects work performed to verify conformance to repair data and documentation.
· Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
· Works in a team setting to accomplish assigned tasks
· Reads and follows work instructions
· Setups, operates and programs machine tools to repair or manufacture parts and components
· Performs preventative maintenance on shop equipment
· Utilizes precision measuring tools to inspect and assure items are in conformance to blueprints and other repair data
· Maintains a safe and audit-ready work area
· Maintains a minimum billable efficiency of 80
· Cross trains to a minimum of 80 of all shop equipment
